Military Professions That Changed Modern Warfare Issue #6. Foot soldier: the one on whom the earth is held

Modern warfare is associated with drones, precision weapons, artillery, communication systems and sophisticated machinery. But there is a profession whose importance has not disappeared even in the most technological war.
This is an infantryman.
You can see the enemy from the air, strike at a distance and have modern equipment. But ultimately the territory is controlled by whoever is on the ground.
This is why the infantry was and remains the backbone of the army.
Modern infantry is more than a machine gun and a trench
An infantryman today works as part of a larger system. Close by are intelligence, unmanned systems, artillery, communications, engineering units, medics and equipment.
A good infantryman is not just a person who knows how to use a weapon. He understands his role in the unit, orients himself in the environment, interacts with his comrades and performs the assigned tasks.
Infantry is, above all, a team. Everyone has a role, and mutual trust and harmony are often as important as individual skills.
Professionals become
It is not necessary to come as a trained soldier to serve in the infantry.
Military affairs are learned.
During training, a serviceman masters weapons, tactical medicine, orientation, movement and interaction within a unit.
Next comes experience.
The main thing is a desire to learn, discipline, responsibility and willingness to be part of a team.
An infantryman can grow
Service in the infantry is not one position for the whole time.
A person gains experience and discovers his own strengths. Someone becomes a good shooter, someone masters other weapons, and someone shows leadership qualities.
Many experienced sergeants and commanders have grown up from the infantry. For some, becoming an infantryman is the beginning of a professional career in the military.
Man on the ground remains the main
Technology will continue to change warfare. Drones will become more complex, weapons more accurate, control systems faster.
But the ground must be controlled. The position must be taken and held. And there must be a person you can rely on.
That is why the infantryman remains one of the most important military professions.
Even in modern technological warfare, everything ultimately depends on people.
